SEATTLE ACCW ADOPTS SEMINARIANS We spiritually adopt our seminarians and pray for them, write them encouraging notes, and send occasional "care packages". These men are like sons, nephews, brothers, and grandsons to us. You too can join us in this ministry! Just contact your Deanery President to find out how you can help.

Priests are there for us from "the cradle to the grave"! ~~ They welcome us into the Church, they absolve our sins, anoint us when we are ill, bless our marriages and bury us when God calls us home. ~~ Most importantly, they bring us Jesus' Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity in the Blessed Sacrament.

The Seminarian Aid Program provides financial support to defray the educational costs of the men currently studying to become priests. The estimated cost to cover their education is approximately $30,000 per year per Seminarian. Each time you use one of the Seminarian Aid Mass cards, your loved one will be enrolled in a year’ s worth of Masses being celebrated by the Archbishop or his Designee. The donation you send as a Mass stipend will go directly into a fund for the Seminarians. Then, each October, at our annual Convention, the ACCW President presents a check to the Archbishop to be added to the Seminarian Burse. Each year Queen of Angels Guild in Port Angeles always has the largest donation to the Seminarian Aid Program. How do they do it? Their members are encouraged to send out the Seminarian Aid cards for all occasions, not just for deaths. Cards are sent to celebrate the living! They are sent to teachers and staff in their school, to St. Vincent de Paul members, to the Legion of Mary group, and to others just to say “thank you”. Only one card is sent to a group of individuals with a single donation is made. Cards are included with birthday, weddings, and anniversaries greetings or even just to let someone know you are thinking about them. At the Guild meeting, members are asked, “Who do we want to send a card to this month?” A minimum of three cards is usually sent each month. Just think how our Seminarian Aid funds would grow if each affiliate were to ask this same question. If you need Seminarian Aid Mass cards, contact your Deanery Seminarian Aid Chair and if you don’t know who that person is, contact Jan at 360 452-7321. She would be happy to send you cards!
